Today, we had our next joint EFI and SFB/TRR 225 seminar given by Prof. Laura De Laporte (RWTH Aachen, DWI Leibniz-Institute), Prof. Angelika Lampert (RWTH Aachen), and Prof. Rudolf Merkel (Forschungszentrum Jülich). All the three speakers are members of the research training group ME3T “Mechanobiology in Epithelial 3D Tissue Constructs (ME3T)”, which aims to elucidate mechanical feedback cycles that determine the function and self-organization of cells and tissues in space and time. They gave an inspiring talk about “Actuating 3D hydrogel systems to study mechanobiology in innervated skin models” to an audience of more than 60 people.

We are grateful to all the speakers for their excellent presentation covering many aspects of highest interest for both the TRR 225 and our emerging fields initiative (EFI) project on novel biopolymer hydrogels and a corrresponding simulation framework developed at FAU. The talk ignited fruitful discussions about possible future collaborations. We are looking forward to strengthen the bond between Aachen, Jülich, and Erlangen and to establish new synergies.
